Metrics
Metrics are quantitative indicators that play a crucial role in data analysis. They provide a way to evaluate, compare, and monitor the performance of various processes, strategies, or systems. By examining metrics, analysts can uncover patterns, identify trends, and measure the effectiveness of their operations, helping drive more informed decisions.
At present, Grafieks does not support the direct creation of metrics. However, we are actively working on integrating this feature in future releases. In the meantime, we offer an alternative solution by integrating with dbt (Data Build Tool), allowing users to retrieve metrics seamlessly.
Metrics in dbt
Section titled “Metrics in dbt”In dbt, metrics are predefined calculations that typically involve aggregations such as sums, averages, or counts. These metrics represent key business indicators and are crucial for tracking performance and ensuring consistency in reporting across different teams.
Metrics in dbt provide a centralized way to define business KPIs, enabling teams to use the same set of metrics without inconsistencies. By connecting Grafieks to dbt Core, we empower users to access these predefined metrics and use them within their analysis. Looking ahead, we plan to extend this functionality by integrating with dbt Cloud as well.
Steps to view metrics
Section titled “Steps to view metrics”When Grafieks is connected with dbt, any metrics defined in a model in dbt will automatically appear under the Metrics tab within the Catalog Explorer section.
